Hi my name is wendy, I m diabetic, my sugars are well under control. My question is every once in awhile I get the shakes so bad I can t control them ( like I m freezing cold ) this will last up to 2 hours. Every time I get one of these episode I get what you call cellulites in my legs and usually have to be hospitalized does this shaking bring this on and what is it. Also is there anyway to stop it from happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia occurs when there are dangerously low levels of blood sugar. For patients with diabetes, only those who are on medications that increase the body's insulin levels are at risk for low blood sugar. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include shaking. In this case you should check regularly the glycemic level to avoid these episodes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
