What Causes Visible Veins On The Breast After Tanning?

I have been using a tanning bed maybe 2-3 times a week, considering I work at a tanning salon, but the last two times I ve noticed blood vessels are popping on my boobs , and kinda on my sides. I have no idea why, and I was wanting to know if you have heard of this before. I don t wanna stop tanning , but if it s something I have to do, I will. It s just weird how ive been doing it for a long time and just these last two times its happened.

Hi,

Noted your history of using tanning bed and development of visible veins on sides of breast. This condition may be due to the following reason: There is a condition called as Idiopathic thrombophlebitis wherein there is non-infective inflammation of the veins, particularly of the breast area.

The cause is not known but can be related to hormonal changes, and cancer should be ruled out in all such cases when they appear on breast. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor for an actual examination of the area affected and get Mammography and Ultrasound of the breasts. FNAC that is fine aspiration cytology of the suspected area should be done.

Any additional tests of blood helps. All these will lead to a proper diagnosis causing enlarged veins and you will get treated accordingly.
