What Causes Vision Loss In A Person With Chiari 1 Malformation?

My son was diagnosed with chiari 1 malformation 3 years ago. And was told to just live his life and keep a close eye on it. However he had had 2 concussions since then and recently was diagnosed legally blind. Is this due to his medical condition chiari 1??
