What Causes Visualizing Flashes Of Light While Having Hypertensive Retinopathy?
Dear Doctors, I am 50 years, my name is Vivian Crawford. I got Hypertensive Retinopathy in 12/2014. I had high blood preassure. I am taking care of the blood preasure now. M y question is my eye site thank God came back almost to norma but I see bright lights in my vision always day and night just like when you stare at a light bulb and the the ;igh stays in your eyes after that. The lights are so bright that blinds me a lot and it is hard to see. Do you have any advice on how to get better, Please I would appreciate your help. Thank you very much. Vivian
The visualisation of flashes of lights while having hypertensive retinopathy is related to proliferation of abnormal blood vessels over the retina and obscuring the fine path of vision and making flashes of light due to abnormal conduction of pigment cells. After thorough clinical examination and evaluation via ultrasound evaluation, I do recommend: @ laser therapy, @ VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) inhibitors or others as per the clinical need of intensity.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
