What Causes Voice Hoarseness After Using Chloraseptic Spray For Sore Throat?

Hi, A week ago, I had a sore throat and used Chloraseptic spray for a couple of days. Unfortunately, I did not read all the fine print about spitting it out and swallowed the drug. My sore throat is gone, but my voice is still a bit hoarse. Is it possible that the antiseptic damaged my vocal coard? How toxic is Chloraseptic (phenol 1.4%)Worried. Rachel

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Health Care Magic Team.

Understanding your concern about health.

Chloraseptic spray which you took for sore throat has active ingradient phenol if not taken in proper amount it can cause numbness and swelling around cheek, tongue, mouth , can cause severe allergy reaction which can cause difficulty in breathing and chest tightness as well.

Well you need not to worry much. It has not damaged any vocal cords. Hoarsness in voice could be because of difficulty in breathing which is an side effect of spray. Your symptoms if start getting worst you should consult physician immediately.

Hope your concern had been resolved.
