What Causes Vomiting After Eating Tuna In Child?

Hello, My son is 21 months old and has been going to daycare for 2 days now. I noticed he had a tuna sandwich for lunch, which is something he s never had. Tonight at 230 am he woke up crying from vomiting. The chunks I saw looked like it could be tuna, but of course, I m not sure. Is it safe to take him to daycare today and is this considered a food allergy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

The symptoms could be intolerance to food.I would suggest for the child to stay at home.Due to vomiting, the chances of dehydration will be present.Adequate fluids should be given.

Look for symptoms like fever, diarrhoea and refusal to feeding and frequent crying.

If vomiting is severe, antiemetic syrups may be required before food. This should be done after consulting with your paediatrician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
