What Causes Vomiting After Giving Zentel Suspension To A 6 Year Old?
my son is 6 years old and has the g6-pd allergy. I recently gave him a 10ml dosage of the zentel suspension just to clear his system but he has since been throwing up. should this be happening because I read the leaflet and it said the chances od vomiting and diarrhea are very low? is there a possibility that he may be allergic to something in the suspension ? help please.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Vomiting is a possible side effect of taking Zentel (Albendazole) suspension, as stated in the medication's leaflet. However, it is rare and usually occurs in less than 1% of patients. It is also possible that your son may be experiencing an allergic reaction to the medication, although this is less likely given the low frequency of reported allergic reactions.
If the vomiting persists or your son experiences other symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, you should seek medical attention immediately. Additionally, it is essential to note that people with G6PD deficiency should not take Albendazole, as it may cause hemolytic anemia.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
