What Causes Vomiting Along With Diarrhea And Black Stools?
I have been sick for 2 days out of the blue with vomiting and diarrhea. I just got out of bed today and now my stools are dark, dark black. I feel much better, but it kind of scares me. I have no idea what I could have eaten that did this to me. I ate the same foods my boyfriend did, with the exception of the food I keep at work for lunches. I eat a lot of salads and produce and throw anything away on Friday that I haven t eaten. Then I buy fresh food on Sundays for the week, for work. I still don t see how I could have gotten food poisoning.
Hi, Vomiting & diarrhea of 2 days can be acute gastroenteritis or food poisoning but black colored stools must alarm you. Black colored stools indicate bleeding from gastrointestinal tract. You need to have Upper GI Endoscopy for diagnosis & management. There are multiple causes of upper GI bleed including gastric or duodenal ulcers, chronic liver disease, prolong use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (pain-killers), inflammation of esophagus, mallory-weiss tear (in alcoholics), and many others. I hope, my answer will help you. Regards, Dr. Maria Daud
