Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 26 yrs old. She has been sick for about three days, throwing up, very tired. Today she thougth she was better, but then had a bowel movement without any warning and had an accident and started throwing up again. SHe said that two weeks ago she had severe back pain that spread to her chest and down her arm.
It looks she has got acute gastroenteritis. This is mostly causes by virus, and would settle in few days. For the time being she should take more and more fluids to avoid dehydration.
ORS sachets are best for rehydration. If she feels exhausted, or dizziness, or don't settle in five days, or there is frank blood in stool, then she should be taken to doctor as she may need drips for rehydration.
This would hopefully settle in up to 5 days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
