What Causes Vomiting And Diarrhea After Taking Amoxicillin?
On this past Friday morning I had some Teeth pulled which were my four upper front teeth, & was given Amoxicilan to make sure there were no Infections afterwards. Well around 8pm I started to Vomite & had bouts of Diaarear thru out the night. And because of my Votiming I m afraid to take my Nitely Medicines that I usually take to help.me sleep & for my Fibromyalgia, I don t want to take these in case I start to Votimite again so I just wait until tomorrow morning to see how I feel ?

Hi,
The Amoxicillin like antibiotics kill the normal helpful intestinal flora; the lactobacilli to allow other pathogenic bacteria to supervene to cause digestive upset, nausea, vomiting & diarrhoea.
Rise in gastric acidity with antibiotic intake can add to the symptoms. The management consists of
-Taking non-spicy, non-oily light & easy to digest food / drink sufficient water with a pinch of salt &half a spoon of sugar in a glass of boiled water.
This would avoid dehydration. Drink curd/buttermilk. This would replace destroyed lactobacilli. Your doctor may change the antibiotic &add supplement of lactobacilli/B complex.
