What Causes Vomiting And Diarrhea In A 13 Year Old Girl?
13 yr old daughter has been vomiting and had diarrhea for more than 2 hours. Her vomit is now slight yellow and dark brown (not coffee ground consistency). It is actually pretty liquidy. She also has a low pulse rate and low temperature of 95.7 via ear. Should I take her in the ER?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea which is due to food poisoning, bacterial and parasitic infections and due to electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry. Most of the time it will go away by its own in 3-5 days if we manage it properly. Major complication of diarrhea is dehydration, you should rehydrate your daughter with time to time .Oral rehydration solution is best for this. Give your daughter proper rest. So you should visit general physician/ pediatrician once if symptoms do not subside . For now you can give her loperamide for frequent stools and paracetamol for fever. Avoid too much oily food and give him rice banana and bread toasts . High fever in case of vomiting with diarrhea is matter of concern.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
