Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, our child is 16 months old. He was frequently vomitting and having motions. We took him to a paediatrician and he precribed Ondem syrup once every 6 hrs (3 ml dosage). He cited the problem due to stomach infection (gastroenteritis). Howevr, he said the vomits will stop immediately after the first dosage of 3ml but the vomits are not stopping even after 3 dosages and 18 hrs. Could u suggest if the dosage is correct and when the vomits will stop.
Hi, Dose is correct but it seems that there might be vomiting immediately after giving Ondem so it has no effect on vomiting. After giving medicine minimum one hour it should remain in stomach so that its effect starts. If medicine is vomited immediately, give another dose. If vomiting does not stop then consult pediatrician, injectable medicine might required. There is also risk of having dehydration. and some IV infusion might required. Ok and take care.
