What Causes Vomiting And Dizziness Post Inhalation Of Paint Fumes?

Hi, yesterday I went into a Store to pay my phone bill. And they were painting a wall with something black, it was so strong I had to put my shirt over my face, then with in 15 min of leaving the Store, I got dizzy and vommeted. And then my right lung has been hurting ever since. Should I go to the hospital to get checked?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Paints might contain strong chemicals that irritate the lungs and the stomach so it is common to have nausea and vomiting after being in contact with them. The lung pain may be chest pain that may be due to the muscular strain from the vomiting and rarely it might be due to the effect of the inhaled paint steams.

I would recommend you to see your doctor so he can listen to your lungs and make sure all is well and rule out lung problems.

Meanwhile you will need to drink plenty of fluids to substitute the lost fluids from the vomiting.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Antoneta Zotaj,
