I have a 5 yes old male, he has been throwing up all day. It started with a fever Sunday night. Fever has dropped to 100.9. We have been giving him only pedialite and small amounts of water. He had 1\2 banana and 3 spoonful of white rice. He drank smaskl amount of water approximately 2 hrs ago and threw it up. Should we take him to ER? He s sleeping now.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The symptoms your son presents point towards a sepsis to investigate. A blood culture, a malaria test, a stool exam and a full blood count may be needed to know the exact cause of the problem.I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination and work-ups.Depending on the intensity of vomiting, your Doctor may also request for a serum electrolyte test to rule out any electrolyte imbalances provoked by excessive vomiting. I will suggest: -You give the child an anti-emetic like vogalene -An anti-pyretic like paracetamol -Oral rehydration salt for replenish ions list through fluids Your Doctor will take care of an etiologic management from the results of the tests. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
