What Causes Vomiting And Fever In A Toddler After Swimming In A Lake?

My 3 yr old was swimming in a lake yesterday evening for about 30-45 mins. Once during the night and this morning when he woke he had thrown up. The vomit was all fluid and this morning it was a yellow color, no food was present either times. He has also been running a temp (100-101) all day.
