What Causes Vomiting And Loss Of Appetite To A 5 Month Baby?

My baby is just 5 months old. Whenever he was fed he vomitted a substantial amount of milk after feeding. He also is having very poor appetite. His doctor prescribed Dormstal for that day. Currrently he is only having 2oz of milk in every 2 hours. He even is not feeling hungry at all, it seems. What to do?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...by what you quote I feel that the infant is having severe form of GER (gastroesophageal reflux).

Your son will need -
1. Antireflux therapy - Proton pump inhibitors + antiemetics
2. Always make him lie down in a propped up position - as in the care seat. He should not be sleeping completely flatly.
3. Avoid heavy feeding and feeding more times and in small aliquots.
4. This type of GER is the root cause for the constipation she is having.
He needs expert gastroenterology consultation.
