What Causes Vomiting And Nose Bleeding In An Infant?

Hello, two days ago my 17mo old son ate banana pudding and got the runs after for two days. Yesterday, my uncle gave him a bad orange even after my protest and he s been throwing up ever since. His temperature is 100.3 and his nose bled a little today. No matter what kind of fluid I give him he throws it back up, but he s still playing and being his normal self; just s little sluggish. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, please follow like this:

1) Do a clinical examination by your Doctor and to confirm do few investigations like [CBC with differential and stool exam].

2) Give ORS fluids to prevent dehydration and discuss [domperidone] for vomiting and [paracetamol]for fever.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this:

1) Get your child vaccinated against rotavirus.

2) Wash your hands thoroughly. And make sure your children do, too. Carry hand sanitizer for times when soap and water aren't available.

3) Try to use separate personal items around your home. Avoid sharing eating utensils, glasses and plates.

4) Disinfect hard surfaces such as counters, faucets, and doorknobs, with a mixture of two cups of bleach to one gallon of water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
