What Causes Vomiting And Weakness When Suffering From Mycobacterium Atrium Complex?
I have been diagnosed with MycoBacterium Atrium Complex. I have been sick for three years it started as pneumonia (persistent) and was told for 10 years I have asthma. History of IBS. I have been taking 3 antibiotics for past 3- months. Had to stop for one month due to nausea, vomiting and very weak, sick feeling. Back on all three antibiotics...starting to get sick again (vomiting, weak and nausea) with added 95.7 degree temperature, headache, night sweats. Not hungry. I will be letting my doctor now today. However, is this all part of MAC?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Fever, headache, night sweats, loss of appetite are features of tubercular infection. Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) is an opportunistic tubercle bacteria which causes infection in immuno-compromised individuals. The symptoms are largely that of tuberculosis. Treatment of MAC is anti-tubercular therapy however, drug sensitivity will be required to select the most appropriate antibiotic which will be effective against the bacteria. MAC may not respond to conventional ATT. At the same time the underlying immuno-compromising condition has also to be managed simultaneously. Consult your refering doctor for further work up.
