Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am not feeling real good, I ate popcorn at the movies, when I got home, I threw up, it had bright red blood in it, but I was looking online to see why that would happen and I came across cancer of the asofigus (spelling) I have GERD (asid reflux desease) and it really scared me, today when I got sick (still not feeling good) there was only streaks of blood, is this anything to worry about?
Hi thanks for asking question. First of all avoid stress.Vomited blood doesn't mean cancer only. Here are few possibilities. 1.First simple gastritis or esophagitis can lead to blood in vomitus. 2.Secondly due to excess stress or smoking history tear in esophagus or stomach can lead to it. 3.Thirdly peptic ulcer like disease can lead to vomitted blood. 4.Fourth one exaggerated acid reflux can lead to it. So for above condition treatment omeprazole taken and avoid smoke. Take semisolid diet with fruit juices. Drink more water. 4.If symptoms still deteriorating then endoscopy needed to look for varices , cancer , any pathological growth etc. I hope my suggestion will be helpful. Dr.parth
