What Causes Vomiting Followed By Blood In Stools?

I woke up Saturday morning and started throwing up. I also had some diareahea. (There was also some blood in the dareahea) I stayed in bed on Sunday and did not eat anything. On Monday I still felt bad and only ate crackers and soup. Today I ate 1/2 a cheese sandwich and a little 7-up. About and hour later I threw up and had diarehea (No blood.) I made an appointment with a gastroentrologist for Thursday. What can I do to feel better until my appointment?

Hello dear user!
Welcome and thank you for choosing HCM for sharing your concerns.

It seems to be a gastrointestinal infection, most probably bacterial infection since you have had diarrhea with blood in it. This condition is associated with nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, abdominal cramps, diarrhea.

If you have fevers and you continue to have blood in the stools you have to take antibiotics to treat the infection. Probiotics and lactic ferments would help a lot to ease the digestion. Take alimentary integrators (Hydramin) or ORS to replace the mineral salts and water you have lost with the vomits and diarrhea.

Try to have a light diet, with liquid food, like soups, vegetables, yogurt, which are easily digested. Don't try to stop the diarrhea through the medications because in bacterial infections it may worsen the situation.

I hope you will be fine soon!
Take care!
DR ERIOL.
