What Causes Vomiting In A New Born?

Hi I have a two month old daughter born at 36weeks by c sec. She is exclusively breastfed. She regularly throws up milk after each feed. I religously burp her and also keep her upright for around twenty minutes after each feed. But she still comes up with some milk every time. The vomit is sometimes mild and at times projectile. Most of the times after burping she starts having hiccups which last a good twenty minutes. I usually feed her to stop those. She froths at the mouth at times and curls up during sleep making grunting noises and looks like she is in pain. She also cries before passing gas. Recently she seems to have congestion and blocked nose. But the doc says her chest is clear and its because of the vomit that I hear her wheezing at times. He has given her domstal and aristozyme. She throws up after having meds. Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The most common cause of a baby vomiting in the early weeks is by some of the milk being brought up with a pocket of air, when your baby burps.
The other reason why babies vomit frequently is because the muscle valve at the top of their stomach is weak and immature.
It is normal and will improve day by day.
You should not be worried.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
