Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Vomiting In An Autism Suffering Person Post Intake Of Food?
my 26 year old son with severe autism ate lunch today with his usual appetite (linebacker) and the same food as the other family members. after about 4 or 5 hours he somehow decided to guzzle about 10 oz of soda and after a short while vomited for probably the second time in his entire life. The soda was cherry based, the vomit included undigested ground beef (from lunch) and while it had a red tinge to it it was the same red as the soda coloring. (vomiting blood is more likely obvious ). He is NOT exhibiting pain and while he is non-verbal, he is currently resting comfortably and making his normal speech sounds. the vomiting is NOT constant like dry heaving and i know to watch for dehydration. Am i over-reacting a bit and yes i know i need to probably seek more care if it continues every time he drinks or eats
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, just watch for another symptoms which indicates some pathology else this is nothing to worry and because of your over consciousness you are getting worry, with history of severe autism it may be likely and may not be due to any disease condition hope this information helps.
