My 8 year old daughter has been vomiting clear fluid all day, Leg cramps and Head ache, yet she is VERY Hyper and it s 3 am in the morning she is still awake.. I have given her Pedialyte and crackers and Children s Pepto Bismaol.. Nothing is working.. She DOES NOT have a fever .. but says he legs hurt really bad. She takes Coloadine .2 mgs at night but throuws up everything.. she has vomited about 8 to 10 time since 5 pm yesterday/ Not sure what to do
* Your kid is having intestine infection through some sort of bacteria or virus most likely ( which is possible without fever as well ).
* Apart from measures taken by you as above, she requires immediate consultation with the pediatrician for
- Prescription of ondancetron syrup (anti-emetic) to control vomiting to be given with sips of water (5 ml) every 6 hourly.
- GI specific antibiotic as cefixime or others as per the clinician choice (metronidazole may flare up vomiting by metallic mouth and would be second choice 0
* Many times intravenous fluids and hospitalization is also warranted to prevent severe dehydration if the oral therapy does not give promising results within few hours.
