my husband is experiencing nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. his lower abdomen is distended and tender. this began yesterday evening. he had eaten part of a turkey sandwich, almost immediately got sick, he threw up, took pepcid and thought it may have been food poisoning. He continued to work and stayed at a local hotel. He got up this am, had cheerios with banana and strawberries around 6am - around noon, he began vomiting again. the color is a pinkish color. he is unable to keep anything even water, down

Hi,

Certainly sounds like something didn't agree in the food or he's been exposed to contaminated drinking water. If he is not able to hold even water down and since he's bringing up what may be a bit of blood he should be seen at an Urgent Care or ER wherever he's at.

The most common cause of this type of picture is viral though bacterial can also be possible. Only a treating doctor will be able to make the best determination through blood work and stool samples if he can take any in for analysis. He should up the degree of handwashing and just drink small amounts of bottled water or Gatorade or Pedialyte through a Sports Bottle continuously or something similar to see if that stays down.

Stay away from undercooked, raw, sushi types of foods. Also, avoid sucking on ice cubes since that water is not usually filtered or clean compared to bottled. If this is viral (and it usually is)...it'll flush itself out but it'll take a few days...in the meantime, good hydration is key.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
