Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife has vomited some blood clots on two occasions. Her mother told her she had family history of kidney problems. She has gastritis, irritible bowle syndrome and a drinking problem. I doubt the kidneys are the problem. don;t have insurance can't afford to chase down other causes when I think the problem is alcohol. looking for advice
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The First thing needs to be confirmed and that is the presence of blood in vomiting because it can be due to diet is taken. and if this is the blood then it may not be due to kidney disease neither it is due to IBS but it may be due to gastritis. Only sever kind of gastritis can develop the Hematemesis (Blood in vomiting ), the only option you have is to send the vomiting for testing.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
