What Causes Vomiting When Diagnosed With Stage 4 Colon Cancer?

my friend has stage 4 colon cancer and had 10 inches of his colon remove 4 years ago. Two years after the surgery a non-cancerous tumor developed in the same area of his belly and it was removed. Last Sunday he developed a bowel blockage and was throwing-up for a day before going to the hospital. After a G.I. test and a cat scan it appears the blockage was temporary, but he wants to know if it will recur without surgery, and whether it will extend his survival?

Hi,

If the blockage is not due to some new growth then no need to worry it won't affect his health but yes it might recur and you should follow up frequently with your GI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
