What Causes Water Retention In The Legs And Stomach?

Hello, My husband has been retaining water and none of the doctors that he has seen is giving us any answers to whats going on. He s been to kidney doctor, gastro doctor, heart doctor and no one seems to know. He is 49 and is diabetic. He has swollen legs, feet, scrotum, and stomach. His primary doctor started him on a water pill but its not helping been taking for a month now. Would you have any idea what this could be?

Following are causes for leg and foot swelling....
-kidney problems (nephropathy secondary to diabetes)
-liver problems
-deep vein thrombosis
-hypoproteinemia
-thyroid issue
-prolonged standing or sitting
-filariasis

Kindly mention investigations that has been done for you

Following investigation can be done as per need...
-Serum urea, creatinine and from weight and creatinine value calculate clearance test
-Serum total protein, serum albumin
-Serum sgot, sgot
-colour doppler etc...

If no cause found CT scan or other suitable higher investigation can be planned
