What Causes Watery Left Eye While Blowing The Nose?

Hi, When I blow my nose water comes out of the inner corner of my left eye. Is this doing damage to my eye or is it perfectly normal? I have a had cold and have a very blocked nose and when I need to blow my nose that s when my eye waters. I just want to know if this means there is something wrong with my eye or if its perfectly normal for this to happen? Thanks Tiffany

Hi Tiffany and welcome to HCM,
The eye and the nose are connected by a small passage, which is the drainage system for our tears. Therefore when ever a person has a cold or a blocked nose, the eyes will water.
Fortunately this channel is outside the eye ball and in no way connected to the inside of the eyeball. Some nasal decongestants can be of help.
But be rest assured that there is nothing wrong with your eye.
All the best health for you and your family!!
