Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Watery Nasal Discharge And Choking While On Chemo?
My husband has cancer and taking chemo. also has Myotonic dystrophy. Lately he is having water comes out his nose like a faucet when he drinks anything. Sometimes even choking. Also producing a lot of phlegm, constantly spitting up. Is this troublesome, shoyld I take him to er.
As per my surgical experience, your husband has lowered immunity level due to chemo cycles. In such instance, possibility of fungal or other infections are of high chance. The watery discharge with nose when drinking anything, indicates excess activity of mucus glands or primary pathology concern (as the site of cancer is not mentioned here). Kindly discuss the issue with treating oncologist for best possible guidelines ahead.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
