What Causes Waxy Taste In The Mouth?

I have a waxy taste in my mouth . I ve had it for the past 5 days. 5 days ago I woke up and brush my teeth and I usually brush my tongue a little bit and I noticed that my tongue was very sensitive So I looked into the mirror and the back of my throat and the roof of my mouth was very red and raw looking.. So I end up calling the doctor making an appointment and going in that day... My doctor tested me for strep and it came back negative ..she told me to keep an I on it and to check back with her if I had any other problems.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Brief answer - Pesudomembrane Formation

Detailed answer - As per your query you have waxy taste in mouth which is due to pesudomembrane formation at palate and around oral cavity inner surfaces. This pseudomembrane formation occur because of fungal infection in oral cavity.

I would suggest you to visit oral physician or ENt specialist for this and get it examined after proper scrapping. Do warm saline gargles on daily basis and use Listerine mouth wash twice a day.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
