What Causes Weak Urine Stream While On Rapaflo And Terazosin?
hi, went to my urologist for a regular check up. every 4 months i see him. usually my psa is about .094 today it is 1.04. i also have a weak urine stream, which happens at times. i sleep all night, without getting up. i take rapaflo 1x daily and terazosin 10mg 2x daily. the dr. is suggesting to look inside to see if there is a blockage, causing a slow urine stream. i did have 2 cups of coffee, 2 hours or so before seeing him. wanted to get your take on it. i m a young 65 year old male, works out a lot with weights and cardio since im 17 and bp is normal. i do seem to have an urge to urinate during the day, and some days more than others

As per my surgical experience, the weak urine stream while on alpha blocker medication can be due various reasons as:
- Diabetes (status not mentioned above)
- Non-responsive to drug therapy due to considerable size of prostate as above 40 or 50 gm / cmm
- Narrowing of the urethra
- Calculus in the urinary system
In my clinic, I do recommend a detailed physical examination with per rectal approach as well as ultrasound of the KUB and prostate size, post void residual volume, diagnostic cystoscopy as per the case concern and clinical evaluation.
