What Causes Weakness After Treatment Of An MRSA Infection In The Leg?

My souse had a closed MRSA infection in his leg that needed to be drained last July. Still has a fairly significant lump under skin. Now he is feeling weak and has subnormal temperature. No warmth or redness at site as was the case last summer. Concern?

Hi,

If the MRSA infection was well treated, with complete drainage of pus, cleansing of the wound and if the wound had healed completely, then there is no reason to worry. If there is residual infection is there then there is a possibility of raised temperature, pain and swelling in the area. Plus infection won't be lasting for such along period. So the cause for weakness could be something else. It is better to get a few investigations done as to see if there is any undiagnosed condition like diabetes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
