What Causes Weakness Along With Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck Region?

A college student complains of having no energy, swollen lymph nodes in the neck region, low grade fever, headache, loss of appetite, and night sweats. He has been taking penicillin for two weeks, but has seen no improvement. What would be one possible organism that produces these symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question.

Your symptoms suggest tuberculosis. If you are from tropical country, it is highly possible.

I treat my patients with such symptoms in following way
1 blood tests (lymphocytes will be high, haemoglobin will be low, esr raised)
2 sputum examination for AFB (tuberculosis bacteria)
3 chest x ray for lung study.
4 sputum culture and sensitivity.
5 good nutritious diet with extra proteins.
Then start treatment for tuberculosis. Remember you have to take medicines for minimum 6 months and under supervision.

I advise you to visit general practitioner and under go these tests and treatment.

I hope I have clarified your queries. Please write for follow up queries. I wish you rapid recovery. Kindly write a feedback. Thank you
