Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Weakness In Leg When Suffering From Shingles?
I was just diagnosed with shingles. I have been experiencing weakness in my legs to the point that I cannot walk without leaning on something. It happens over the course of the day and by evening I am using a walker. I had a total knee replaced in March and had a spinal during surgery.
Hi. I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Usually shingles affects the nerve cells and presents as skin rash across the body, also down the leg. It's distribution follows the course of the affected nerve.
Your presenting complaints such as pain & weakness, fatigue etc would gradually resolve as soon as the skin rash and blisters disappear.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician
