What Causes Weakness In Legs Of A Transplant Recipient?

My friend is in the hospital. She has been back a couple of times with the same symptoms. She is a transplant recipient many years ago and is on many meds. Her legs grow really weak where she can t stand without assistance and has trouble walking. the hospital dr told me what they suspect but I can t remember the name. She said the muscles break down and let off enzymes that cause pain and/or weakness. Do you have an idea what this condition is called?
