What Causes Weakness In The Fingers While Suffering From Diabetes?
I am a diabetic and in the last six months I ve noticed I keep dropping things or I have no pressure or very little pressure in my fingers to open jars or hangers could this be neuropathy or Parkinson s ? my hand writing has changed also it s hard to right now and my handwriting isn t that pretty handwriting I use .d to have.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, you are beginning to have diabetes induced neuropathic changes. Parkinson's disease also results in similar symptoms but the symptoms classically progress very slowly. Moreover, weakness is not very common in Parkinson's. You have to tightly control your blood sugar levels. Make a diet chart and try to follow it. Get your HbA1c levels repeated every 3 months and seek advice on treatment modifications if your sugar is not controlled well. While maintaining diet and weight will definitely help you; you must be very careful to avoid hypoglycemic episodes.
Take care, Regards
