What Causes Weakness In The Hand And Pain In The Wrist Joints?

Hello Doctor, Thank you for taking my question. My name is Lorna and I am very active, I workout a lot doing lots of push ups, dips, squats, lunges, weights etc. However, over the last 8 months, I have been experiencing some issues. My hands have become weak where I cannot grip things as I use to, my wrists joints hurt, even when I lift my 15lb weights or use my hands for any exercise, they hurt for the next few days. I have stopped doing those things which affect my hands, however, I work on the computer all day. Can you give me any advice, I appreciate your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You need to get your complete musculo-skeletal as well as neurological examination done by your primary care physician for any signs of proximal muscle weakness. Blood work up including autoimmune profile as well as CPK and LDH needs to be done.

Any focal neurological deficit should also be ruled out. Supplements for calcium D3 B12 and folic acid may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
