What Causes Weakness In The Hands While On Simvastatin And Celebrex?

I had hip replacement surgery 3 weeks ago. I take the following meds: Simvastin (since 2010), celebrex (since surgery), asperin (post surgery blood-thinner), tylenol ,(post surgery pain), multivitamin and occassionally alleve ( 1 every other day or so). I also use, but am weaning myself off of a walker. I noticed my hands are significantly weaker. At first I thought it was from leaning too heavily on the walker, but as I am leaning less and still feeling the weakness, I wonder if it could be a side effect of my meds???

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Simvastatin and other related statin group of drugs may affect the muscles and can cause weakness. However, we have to rule out other causes for muscular weakness before concluding our diagnosis. Consult your physician and get evaluated, you can start on Rosuvastatin and other alternatives in case of persistent symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
