What Causes Weakness In The Legs When I Sit Cross Legged?

When I sit cross legged for any time my toes feel like they re in jello or something squishy. After about 7 mins of stretching them out, the feeling almost goes away, but not completely. What s going,on do you think, this used not to happen. I m male, non smoker, non drinker, aged 59. Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. What you are experiencing is most likely due to compression of sensory nerve in your foot which are very close to the skin in your foot. When you sit cross legged you are most likely compressing those sensory nerve. Avoid sitting in position that cause such problems or try sitting on padded mats.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Samuel Parmar
