What Causes Weakness In The Lower Leg Muscles?

Symptoms: Weakness in lower leg muscles when I lift and carry objects with medium or more weight. Did not happen in the past. Leg weakness lingers for 30 minutes or more then subsides. Heat rate increase until after I rest 10 min. or more. I am a smoker (have been for 40 years) although I m cutting back , I do still smoke.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should get investigated with color Doppler study of leg to rule out vascular cause. Check your serum calcium, sodium and potassium level as well. Liver and kidney profiles also done. Full CBC report done to check anemia. EMG and NCV testing also can be done.
