What Causes Weakness In The Muscles On The Left Side Of The Body?
I am a 46 year old female, generally healthy. I have noticeably lost muscle strength on my entire left side -- from my face all the way to my foot. There is some noticeable puffiness on that left side as well. My doctor thinks the problem is neurological and ordered an MRI of my brain. The results were normal. Today my massage therapist, who has been noticing issues with my left side for over a year, told me that it felt like my muscles are over stretched on the left side. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
hi mam,as your MRI brain is normal,we can think of the following possibilities : 1)any tumour or lesion of cervical spinal cord. 2)multiple sclerosis 3)motor neurone disease.
you need to go for MRI spinal cord.motor neurone disease can’t be diagnosed by MRI.for that you need to go for ELECTROMYOGRAPHY(EMG),nerve conduction studies, muscle biopsy.these are advised only after all the other conditions are ruled out.you can discuss the above conditions with a neurologist for further evaluation.any other medical queries, please let me know.i’m always eager to attend your concerns.wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year 2018.thank you.take care.bye.
