I have intermittent nerve flashes (stingers) in the center of my deltoid regions of both shoulders accompanied by weakness in my shoulders and arms and numbness in my hands and fingers. Causation can be simple movement or stretching of my arms. Been going on for about a month. I am 74 Y/O. Any ideas. Neck is extremely stiff...

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since your age is more than 70 years, we should definitely rule out brain pathologies like Parkinson disease or multiple sclerosis for your symptoms.So consult neurologist and get done clinical examination and MRI of brain. If MRI is normal then no need to worry much. Take calcium, vitamin D3 and B 12 supplements. Do physiotherapy, apply ice packs on affected areas. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
