What Causes Weakness In The Wrist After An Injury?
Whilse playing badminton this even when taking a shot I kind of twisted my wrist and felt a sharp pain. I can form a fist and there is no pain only when I tried hitting the shuttle again my wrist was too weak. An icepack was put on immediately. This happened approx 9.20ish.
Noted your short history about painful movement of hte wrist joint while playing a particular shot in badminton, can form a fist without any pain, put on the ice. The commonest causes can be related to one of the following: Stretch of some ligament of the wrist joint although this is rare. Tendinitis. Fracture of scaphoid bone. Since this is related to the wrist joint I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon for clinical examination and get necessary investigations if needed and advised. Till then apply some crepe bandage or splint for the wrist joint to have complete rest. Take an anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen if it suits you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
