prozac is fluoxetine. long term intake causes weight gain. It is not because of decrease in the dose of medication. It has to be tapered rather than suddenly stopping. weight gain is because of an increase in the appetite caused by the medication. So taking the medicine along with good exercise would be better rather than sudden withdrawal.
