What Causes Weight Gain After Taking Betacap TR 40, Nexito And Clonafit?

I am female 34 year old and unmarried. I have been taking nexito 10, Betacap TR 40 and clonafit .5mg for migraine, tension headache/anxiety since 23 days. My headache is almost gone but i have gained so much weight. My belly is bulging out and my waist size has become 33. Looks like pregnant. Its so embarassing. Excersing hard is also not working. Every morning slight increase in waist size. I dont want to continue these medicines pls suggest me how stop these medicines.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. First of all I'd like to tell you that these drugs Nexito (Escitalopram), Betacap (Propranolol) or Clonazepam are not known to cause significant weight gain. Try to do dietary adjustments and exercise and it should come under control. If gain in weight persist then check your Thyroid hormones and Cortisol levels to rule out any hormonal imbalance. Hypothyroidism or Hypercortisolenemia are known to cause significant weight gain in depression. Still if every thing comes normal discuss with your doctor to wean off the drugs. These drugs can be stopped by reducing the doses gradually over 6-10 weeks. Reduce the doses by 20% every two weeks and you will not suffer withdrawal symptoms. Please visit your doctor for prescription.
