Regarding your concern, I would ex-plain that
prednisone as almost all the other
corticosteroids has the potential for sodium and water retention and hence weight increase (in fact is a pseudo-increase, as it is not a real tissue mass increase).
The longer the period of corticosteroids therapy, the greater the weight gain effect.
But, don't worry about that!
If you don't have a decreased cardiac performance (measured by cardiac
ultrasound), this effects will be relieved gradually without the need for additional treatment.
If you have a previous history of
heart failure, you may need to adjust your daily diuretics dose.
So, I recommend you to consult with your attending doctor and review your overall clinical status, as I explained above.
