What Causes Weight Gain And Hair Loss When Born Without The Thyroid?

Thank you ... I was born without a thyroid gland and it seems like i have a hard time getting it regulated by pills I cant loose wieght , I m tired all the time loosing my hair.. my question is can I take anything to help I know your thyroid plays a big part of growing but i would like to know how or what i can use to help from keeping me from not having no energy and loosing weight !! I ve tried weight loss pills , exercising , and eating right nothing works is it due to my age? 53 I am always tired and insomminia too Thanks for your response I appreciate it !!

Hello. Your symptoms seem to suggest that whatever dose of the thyroid tablets you are taking for your condition are falling short. Please check your TSH and free T4 levels to see whether an increase in the dose would help. Also, if you are a woman, those symptoms may also suggest menopause.
