Hi...I am taking Pantoprazole since August this year and I am not eating excessively but have gained weight around my middle and am not too happy about this. Could it be from the meds?I am 73 but am still working 35 hrs a week. So I am active.please email me at YYYY@YYYY .

Hello,

Weight gain has not been associated with Pantoprazole intake. Invariably weight gain is associated with excess food intake or very little physical exercise or both. It is good to know that you are active for 35 hours a week. But it is equally important to spend at least 30 to 45 minutes per day on brisk walking. Plus the caloric intake has to be based on ones ideal body weight & extent of daily physical activity. Please look at those details. Most often one tends to eat more than actual caloric need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
