What Causes Weight Gain In A Person While On Adderall?

I have been taking 30mg of Adderall for Adult ADHD-I for about 1 1/2 years. I am 35 year old female. I have steadily have been gaining weight since I started taking the medication. When I started taking it I weighed approximately 140 lbs. I am currently at 173 lbs. 2 months I started working on a horse ranch as a lead wrangler of 26 horses. I thought I will for sure loose weight. Nope I have gained 3 pounds in a month. Please tell me whats going on?

I can understand your concern. Weight gain while taking Adderall is a very uncommon finding as this molecule is notorious for its effects of causing reduction in appetite and weight loss.

I think that the reason behind your weight gain is some other condition and not this medicine as gaining 33 lbs of weight in such short time is not normal too. You should get tested for thyroid hormones and diabetes as they are very usual disorders causing sudden unintended weight gain. If they show normal levels, you should consult a gynecologist and go for investigations regarding premature menopause and polycystic ovaries. One of these reasons could be behind your sudden weight gain.
