What Causes Weight Gain Inspite Of Taking Lamictal And Clonazepam For Bipolar Disorder?

I am concerned about my niece who is 25 years old.She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She is on several medications, Lamictal 500 mg., Saphris 15mg., and Clonazapam. She is also morbidly obese. She continues to gain weight and struggles with depression and anxiety even though she is on these drugs to prevent it!

Dear, unfortunately, some of the antidepressant drugs can cause weight gain and Lamictal can do that. In addition to that, some patients with depression and anxiety eat more due to the condition , some eat less. She needs to start doing exercise and eat healthier. I know that is hard but it will make her feel mentally and physically better. She might consider talking to her doctor about the possibility of changing her treatment to a drug that has less possibility of weight gain.
